DataDyne.org is One of 25 Innovators From Around the World Recognized for Applying Technology to Benefit Humanity

(San Jose, CA; Washington, DC; Bangalore, India; and Nairobi, Kenya) Sept. 9, 2008 - DataDyne.org, a not-for-profit consultancy creating mobile information and communications technologies to serve public health and development , was today named a 2008 Tech Awards Laureate, one of 25 global innovators recognized each year for applying technology to benefit humanity and spark global change. The Tech Awards, a signature program of The Tech Museum of Innovation, and presented by Applied Materials, Inc., selected DataDyne.org from among hundreds of nominations representing 68 countries.
 
 
 
 
EpiSurveyor: DataDyne.org is being recognized for its creation of EpiSurveyor, a free and
open-source software that enables public health and development professionals to very
easily create, share, anddeploy surveys and other forms on mobile devices including PDAs
and cell phones. The result is a more effective, responsive public health infrastructure in developing communities. The development of EpiSurveyor, and its use in mHealth programs being rolled out in sub-Saharan Africa, is supported by the United Nations Foundation and
Vodafone Foundation Technology Partnership, the World Health Organization, and many ministries of health. Importantly, all of the programming work for EpiSurveyor is done in developing countries in order to increase local development capacity.
